Facing a horrible discovery was the Human Rights Observatory in Syria, like a gorge that jihadists had turned into a mass grave!

How the “death gorge” was revealed
Following the expulsion from the Islamic State, Human Rights Watch (HRW) was able to carry out an investigation in the area and found that the jihadists were using the throat as a mass grave, but also later.
“The al-Hota gorge, once a stunning natural landscape, has become a place of horror,” said Sarah Kayali, a HRW researcher in Syria. The number of bodies dumped in the gorge is unknown, and it is one of 20 mass graves found in areas controlled by the Islamic State in Syria.
“Revealing what happened there, as in other mass graves in Syria, is crucial to understanding the fate of the thousands of people executed by the Islamic State and holding the killers to account,” added Kayali.
A computer betrayed the landscape of horror
The existence of this mass grave was revealed when an IK fighter went to repair his computer at a store in Tal Abyad, near Turkey, according to HRW. The store technician copied the data from the computer, including a video showing jihadists throwing corpses in their throats in 2014.
HRW used a drone to investigate the gorge and managed to record several corpses floating in the water that had accumulated there. Based on “the state of disintegration,” the non-governmental organization estimated that “the bodies were dumped there long after the IK left the area.”
“The identity of these victims and the causes of their deaths remain unknown,” he said. In another gorge, known as al-Hafsa, in northern Iraq, the remains of several IK victims have been found, but have not yet been thoroughly investigated, according to HRW.
