Another 26 Turkish refugees tried to disembark off the coast of Chios on Saturday afternoon to seek political asylum, saying they were being persecuted by Turkish President Erdogan.

In order not to be noticed, according to politischios.gr, they used small fishing boats, in which they hoisted the Greek flag, as a result of which they managed to reach the Agia Ermioni area, where they were noticed by boats of the Central Port Authority of Chios.

In fact, 2 of them, knowing the process, tried to pierce the ships with a drill to cause a shipwreck, resulting in their arrest a few hours later.

The 24, including children, were taken to the quarantine structure in Lefkonia and the 2 to the detention centers of the Central Port Authority of Chios.

All of them received an administrative fine of 5,000 euros and a case was filed for illegal entry into the country.
