Specifically, he stressed that from next Friday there is a traffic restriction from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. throughout the country.

The three reasons why citizens will be able to go out are: work, health and a small walk of the pets a short distance from the house. Likewise, Mr. Hardalias referred to individual sports and, as reported, these will be performed in compositions of three people and with a strong recommendation to be held near the athletes’ homes.

As for teleworking, Hardalias stressed that companies must now operate with the absolutely necessary personnel.

Pagoni: Doctors in Thessaloniki are in dire straits

The president of EINAP, Matina Pagoni, described the situation in the Thessaloniki hospitals as marginal.

Speaking on Topic 104.6, he said that his fellow doctors are in dire straits. However, he did not confirm that patients are being examined for ICUs and clarified that, in cases where necessary, patients will be transferred to hospitals in other parts of the country.

For Attica, he assured that there is still room for resistance in the system and that regular surgeries have not stopped.

“In Attica, the doctors have made sure that the surgeries are performed, so that no patient is at risk.” Regular surgery can be emergency, “he characteristically said.

Speaking of the big picture, he said that the number of people seriously treated with COVID-19 has an explosive increase, while in total at this time hospitalizations have exceeded 2,150.

He expressed concern about the intubation of several of them, and stressed that even young people have entered the process.

“You have to be careful until Easter”

“We have to tell the truth so that people understand the urgency of the situation,” he said, explaining that even until Easter, you have to be careful.

At the same time, he seemed moderately optimistic about vaccines, but stressed that there was still a way to start vaccination. In a first phase, the most vulnerable will be vaccinated in groups and as long as they are on the front line (hospitals, security forces, etc.).

Commenting on the Thessaloniki Medical Association’s call for help from private doctors, Ms Pagoni strongly opposed. As he said “you can’t in one hospital to come with different medical contracts, they will come with a block that will leave ”.

He stressed that doctors must be there, specific personnel must stay and not come and go. Hospitals are getting stronger, he said, by hiring staff and announcing permanent positions.

He added that EINAP will react strongly to such an attempt to integrate private doctors into the system, although he clarified that in other much worse conditions, it makes sense for everyone to help voluntarily.
