ZDF is also in mourning for Michael Gwisdek. The actor and director died Tuesday at the age of 78. On this occasion, the station is adapting its programming for the next weekend.
“With Michael Gwisdek we lose not only a great actor, an exceptional talent on stage and in front of the camera, but also a director and contemporary who, as a humorous observer of German-German history, built bridges between East and West,” he says Heike Hempel. Gwisdek died on Tuesday at the age of 78 after a “brief and serious illness” as his family announced. No further details are known about the circumstances of the death. For this reason, ZDF is adapting its television program.
The film “Traumschiff” with Gwisdek is repeated
On Saturday, September 26, 2020, the station will show “Das Traumschiff: Palau” at 1:45 pm. A 2016 rerun, in which Gwisdek was seen alongside then-“dream ship” captain Sascha Hehn and cruise director Oskar Schifferle, played by Harald Schmidt. Instead, the program “Rosamunde Pilcher: When in doubt for love” will be canceled.
Gwisdek, born in Berlin-Weißensee in 1942, became successful as a stage, film and television actor after studying at the Berlin State Drama School. Since 1988 he has also been behind the camera and worked as a director. The character actor was one of the most in-demand actors in Germany and appeared in more than 90 film and television productions. Michael Gwisdek was awarded the German Film Award twice for this work and, in addition to many other awards, he was also honored with the Silver Bear in 1999.
