meIn the Wirecard scandal, the Munich prosecutor’s office froze more than 500 million euros in private assets, according to information from the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung”. Even with this, however, the damage incurred may not even come close to being compensated, the FAS reports.

The measure affects former CEO Markus Braun, who is currently in detention. Additionally, volatile board member Jan Marsalek and two other individuals are affected.

Braun owns several properties in Munich, Vienna and Kitzbühel. According to the extract from the land register, he is the owner of 113 square meters of living space in an Art Nouveau villa in Bogenhausen, the FAS writes, but his wife is also listed there as a co-owner.

A sincere wish from the wife.

Consequently, Braun managed its assets through its “MB Beteiligungsgesellschaft” in Munich. Entries in the commercial register show that Braun’s private assets entered there have grown steadily, to 170 million euros in 2017. One company in Braun’s private portfolio was a Munich fashion brand, supposedly a wish of his wife’s heart.

In the case of Jan Marsalek, creditors are now going after the manager wanted as a fraudster, starting with the owner of the property on Munich’s Prinzregentenstrasse, which is now known as the “Villa Marsalek”. The 81-year-old from Munich, who built a flourishing woodworking shop after the war and invested the proceeds in real estate, hasn’t received any money for two months. The rent is around 45,000 euros per month.

Jan Marsalek is pleased to invite distinguished guests here, reports the FAS. But he was not an official tenant of the building. In the lease, however, there is a company called “IMS Capital Partners” that, according to its own reports, invests the money of wealthy individuals in companies.
