Winterberg After thousands of people ignored his pleas to stay away, the city of Winterberg is now taking action. Certain areas may not be accessible until January 10. Police wrote numerous announcements on Saturday.
Once again, many hikers have made their way to the snow-covered Sauerland, despite repeated requests from the town of Winterberg to forego skiing and tobogganing fun in the enclosure. Long lines of cars and traffic jams formed in the snowy villages of the region, and parking lots filled up.
In the afternoon, the police blocked Federal Highway 480 as an entrance to Winterberg. From this Sunday until next Sunday (10.1.), Entry into certain areas is no longer allowed, as the city announced at night. The Altastenberg, Neuastenberg, Niedersfeld, Winterberg, Züschen tracks and associated parking spaces, as well as the area around Kahler Asten and large-scale parking in Bremberg, are affected. Violations must be punished consistently.
Police and regulatory authorities wrote reports on Saturday of numerous violations of the crown’s protective measures, as a spokeswoman for the city of Winterberg said. Among other things, 94 violations of the contact restriction and 176 violations of the mask requirement, which is applied in urban areas, among other things on slopes and parking lots. There were also two criminal charges because the emergency services were insulted and in another case they were supposed to spit on them.
Police had announced on Twitter in the morning that they would give Winterberg more support over the weekend to enforce the blanket decree on the mask requirement and the crown protection ordinance. For this, riot police forces would also be summoned. A week ago, visitors had stormed the region. The roads on the way to the Winterberg ski area were also jammed on New Year’s Day due to the large number of visitors.
The lifts and slopes, restaurants and cabins are closed until at least January 10. The operators of the winter sports arena and the ski lift carousel note on their website that there are no restrooms or warming facilities, and there are no rescuers on site. It says there: “We love our mountains. It also determines: But in these times we have to let this love rest, because haste generates traffic jams and crowds. Congested streets, lack of parking spaces and many potential contacts. Who wants that? “
