Will there be new crown restrictions for Berlin on Tuesday? – BZ Berlin

A crown traffic light is already orange. The number of 7-day incidents (new infections per 100,000 inhabitants) continues to rise: it is now 28.3 in Berlin (German average: 13.4) and thus close to the 30 mark where the traffic light would turn red.

This number will have a major impact on future action. As reported, the Senate is considering new restrictions on private celebrations and even a temporary ban on alcohol is being discussed. Decisions are expected on Tuesday.

On the same day, the country’s leaders spoke with Chancellor Angela Merkel, as recently more than 2,000 new infections were reported in Germany every day. Although the number dropped to around 1,400 on Sunday, many health authorities rarely report on Sundays.

The president of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), Roland Wieler, sees the situation calmly despite the increase in numbers. “Right now everything seems to be under control,” he told “Welt am Sonntag.” However, the situation could change at any moment and the numbers could increase exponentially, as in Israel, Spain or France.

There is no new lock in sight

The RKI boss is not expecting a second lockdown. “If we stay serious, we keep mindfulness, then that can be avoided in my opinion,” Wieler said.

In Berlin, the Senate Health Administration reported 83 new Covid 19 infections on Sunday. The number of people currently infected increased from 18 to 1660. Currently, 77 Corona patients are being treated in Berlin hospitals, 20 (four fewer than the day before) in intensive care units.

There is still a steep slope inside Berlin. Downtown districts in particular continue to be the hardest hit.

The lone leader is Mitte with a 7-day incidence of 54.7, followed by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (45.5) and Neukölln (36.4). The fewest new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is registered in Treptow-Köpenick (9.1).

Berlin’s health authorities receive additional support from the German Armed Forces to trace contacts with corona-infected people and other testing equipment.

To date, 60 soldiers have already been deployed. Now, according to a report by the “Berliner Morgenpost”, 180 more will follow.
