Tui Germany boss Marek Andryszak exclusively on RTL interview
He is the best tour guide in Germany. No one sells more trips than Marek Andryszak. The 47-year-old is head of Germany in Tui, the world’s largest travel group. We found it exclusively at the company’s headquarters in Hannover. Never in the Corona crisis did it take so long for an interview. And he also answers critical questions! And there are some of them …

Tui-Boss apologizes for annoying coupons on canceled trips
“I’m not sleeping well right now,” says Marek Andryszak freely. The crisis weighs on the father of three children. Corona hit Tui hard. The travel company is cutting 8,000 jobs worldwide. The company received a bridge loan of 1.8 billion euros from the state. And the head of Tui Germany, 47, urgently needs the money: currently there is no trip, his planes (Tuifly) are on the ground. High costs, no income. And many customers are scared, some also angry. Sample vouchers. Due to the travel warning, Tui canceled countless trips. Tour package operators in the EU must return the money paid within 14 days. Tui, like all the other organizers, preferred to issue vouchers, some with bonus credit. “In the first phase, we had to try to stay fluid and had no refund process. Of course, customers are upset. I’m so sorry. Just I can apologize for that, “Chief Tui explains. Now there are the processes. Every customer who wants to get their money back and does not receive a coupon.
Tui’s boss Andryszak explains why the 2020 holidays will be cheaper
The federal government’s travel warning will last at least until June 14, 2020. There will be no vacations until then! But Chief Tui is optimistic. Give RTL two promises!
First: “We will continue flying this summer. We will go to Greece from July 1. And we will also arrive in Mallorca in summer, at the latest in August. We are in constant contact with the politicians. I am optimistic.” Chief Tui (born in Poland) demands a unified policy solution (“there is simply no chaos”). The tourism industry needs a concept of pan-European openness.
Promise # 2: “Holidays are cheaper! As an entrepreneur, of course it hurts. But there is so much empty infrastructure in vacation regions that prices will drop.” Then we can expect one or two bargains. Due to Corona’s effects, many of the usual on-site things will be lost: “I don’t think we will see pool parties or aerobics in closed rooms. In restaurants, I expect more on-site service and fewer buffets.”
Revolutionary cancellation notice: free right of withdrawal
To gain the trust of customers, the Tui boss announces a revolution in the package travel market in the RTL interview. There is a free withdrawal right for all trips booked after May 15, 2020. For some reason, customers can cancel up to 14 days before departure. “Then you will receive the price fully paid,” explains Marek Andryszak. Tui plays its position in the market. Will the competitors do the same?
In the video, you can see Tui’s boss’s extraordinary cancellation promise and what he still offers to vacationers for this year’s holiday season.
This is how boss Tui goes on vacation
After the stress, Marek Andryszak (six million customers a year) would also need a few days of vacation. It is not yet clear if it will work. But the father of three had plans: sometime in the summer to the Baltic Sea in a reserved vacation home. And then maybe Greece. “Kos or Crete would not be bad,” says Tui’s boss.
