What do you have against gays?

Friedrich Merz fights with two accusations: that he is homophobic and that the Germans are lazy in the Crown crisis. But is that really true? In an exclusive interview on t-online, he expresses himself in detail for the first time.

Friedrich Merz usually speaks fast. But this quality is not just a skill, it always gets you in trouble. A few days ago he gave an interview to Bild.de. In it he said that he would have no problem with a homosexual becoming chancellor. But then he added: “The question of sexual orientation – which is not a matter for the public as long as it is within the framework of the law and as long as it does not affect children – at this point, however, an absolute limit has been reached for me. This is not a topic for public discussion. ” Since then, critics have accused him of bringing homosexuals closer to pedophiles.

Another quote in the conversation caused a stir. Regarding part-time work, Merz said: “We have to be a little careful not to get used to the fact that we can live without work.” Not only other parties, but also the CDU criticized this: the workers wing considered the declaration “inhumane”.

Merz now reacts in a video interview with t-online.

Friedrich Merz in …

… his statement on homosexuality and pedophilia:

“You (the statement) have obviously been misunderstood.” But she understands that it can be misinterpreted and that is why she expressly says: “If someone has been personally affected by them, I really am very sorry.”

… the post-interview debate in which he was accused of homophobia:

It was “of course malice on the road”. The “predominant, if not exclusive” reaction of the party was:
“You can go overboard with criticism and interpretation. That gets down to the subject of some kind of outrage machine.”

… the critics’ opinion that it was already there beforehand Disdainfully expressed about women to have:

“There is an underdeveloped sense of humor and irony in this society. If you had said something like that in Britain, no one would have bothered about it.” And she added: “But I understand and learn: one is in the wrong hands in this country with irony or with comments that perhaps pretend to be a little funny.”
