Weston McKennie now plays alongside superstar Cristiano Ronaldo!
The move from FC Schalke 04 midfielder to Italian record champion Juventus Turin is perfect.
As Juve announced, the American, who turned 22 on Saturday, will initially be loaned out for one year. SPORT1 had already reported on the upcoming change on Wednesday.
The “old woman” also published the numbers of the deal. Consequently, the rental rate is initially 4.5 million euros, the modalities also include a purchase option for 18.5 million euros and the possibility of more bonus payments.
Schalke gets up to 30m for McKennie
As can be seen from the Juve statement, the purchase obligation occurs if certain sporting goals are achieved at the end of the 2020/21 season.
But even if these goals are not met, Turin still has the option of signing McKennie.
Bonus payments can increase to a total of € 7 million, meaning Schalke would receive a maximum of € 30 million for the midfielder.
“Economically sound for Schalke”
“After discussions with various clubs, the agreement with Juventus Turin is the most financially sensible for Schalke and the most attractive sport for Weston,” said sporting director Jochen Schneider:
“Of course, the decision to resign a talented player like Weston is due in part to the financial situation of our club.”
