Frankfurter Eintracht defeated Bayer Leverkusen, one of the best teams in the Bundesliga, on Saturday. At 2-1 against Werkself Coach Adi Hütter’s team was already behind after ten minutes and a goal from Nadiem Amiri. But Amin Younes (minute 22) and an own goal by Edmond Tapsoba (54) turned the game around.
Adi Hütter (Eintracht Frankfurt coach): I like very much. It was an absolutely deserved victory against a top team from Leverkusen. We did a lot of good, otherwise you can’t beat an opponent like that. We also defended together, united. We have managed to find the correct basic order. In many games where we draw, we score a point with pretty bad luck; otherwise, we could be later. But this game gives a lot of confidence for the future.
Amin Younes: If I had done the second, I would certainly be even happier (laughs). But I am very happy to have won and to have played a good game against a very good team. It shows how difficult it is to play against us, win over us and that we have a talented squad. I scored my last goal against Dortmund in 2013; someone whispered it to me. We also had many positive things in the games we drew. And today too, first we have to chase after, and then we do it amazing: big compliments. I just hope that at some point we get there, that we get the lightness too, and sometimes lead clearly. Because the possibilities were there. It’s fun to play soccer here.
Djibril Sow: We are delighted to have made it past the time at home. Again it was very close to the end, but we were rewarded. It can go on like this. I’ve been working on myself and I feel good. We always play better football. In Augsburg we showed how we can score three points. We will have to do it again next week. As we are at the moment, we are going to Mainz with a lot of optimism.
Martin Hinteregger: We have played good games this season. It was definitely a great game against Leverkusen, who are in very good shape. Otherwise, they would not be where they are at the table. We have playfully improved over the past few weeks. Amin Younes in particular is doing us very well, Aymen Barkok is there. You gave the team a shake up, guts. It was also good for Daichi Kamada that he had competition. After Bayern, Leverkusen are the best offensive team, but the goal was a coincidence.
Peter Bosz (angry coach Bayer Leverkusen): My team can do much better. We deserved to lose, Frankfurt deserved to win. His football was better than ours. We were bad.
