Video game with many glitches
Sony has to retire “Cyberpunk 2077”
For gamers it was one of the biggest releases of the year: “Cyberpunk 2077”. But now Sony is facing a debacle: the company has to withdraw the game due to technical flaws. There is also talk of health risks.
Sony recalls its video game “Cyberpunk 2077”, which has been produced with immense effort, due to technical defects. The Japanese company said that buyers who had purchased the game on the PlayStation Store would be offered a full refund. In recent days, users had complained of numerous software bugs. There were even warnings about the health risks posed by the game.
“Cyberpunk 2077” will now be removed from the Playstation Store until further notice, Sony announced. The company justified the measure with the fact that it seeks “a high degree of customer satisfaction.”
The video game, which is highly anticipated around the world, was released last week. From the beginning, the creators were forced to put a warning in “Cyberpunk 2077” after a critic reported on epileptic seizures. Polish development studio “CD Projekt Red” said it was looking for a “more permanent solution” to control health risk “as soon as possible”.
Keanu Reeves role
Several reviewers pointed out software bugs in the game. They accused Sony of offering an unfinished product. The release date for “Cyberpunk 2077” had been postponed twice.
The effort involved in producing the game was enormous: for the English version, dialogue was recorded for a total of 450 hours, spoken by 125 actors, including Hollywood star Keanu Reeves. The Polish bank BOS estimated production costs at 270 million euros, which would make “Cyberpunk 2077” one of the most expensive video games ever developed.
