According to a report, Health Minister Spahn plans to divide corona vaccines in Germany into three categories. With the vaccination ordinance, you only partially follow the recommendations of the vaccination commission.
The federal Minister of Health, Jens Spahn (CDU), apparently only partially follows the recommendations of the Permanent Commission on Vaccination (Stiko) in its vaccination ordinance. As the publishing network Germany reported, referring to the ordinance, it only lists three groups that must be vaccinated one after another. Stiko suggested five categories.
According to the minister’s ordinance, vaccines with the highest priority should be given to people over the age of 80, as well as to nurses with a very high risk of exposure to the coronavirus. This group also includes nurses whose patients are at high risk for serious or fatal disease.
Government personnel in third group
According to the draft, the second high priority category includes all people over the age of 70 and people at high risk of developing a serious illness. Close contacts of people in need of care and pregnant women can then be vaccinated, and the same applies to people in asylum or homeless shelters.
According to the report, the third group includes all people aged 60 and over or at higher risk of developing a serious illness. Employees “in positions of special relevance in state institutions” such as governments, the police, the fire brigade, the education sector and the judiciary, are then vaccinated. The same applies to people in precarious working conditions, such as seasonal workers.
The vaccination ordinance goes into effect today
Unlike what Stiko suggested, Spahn’s design also allows for prioritization within groups. The ordinance also establishes that those who wish to be vaccinated must prove through documents or medical certificates that they belong to one of the groups.
Spahn (CDU) wants to put into effect today the Corona Vaccination Ordinance, which regulates the order in which citizens have the right to be vaccinated. He named December 27 as the start date for vaccinations across the EU.
