After the vaccination failure in a Stralsund nursing home, one of the employees is still in hospital. Eight nursing home workers accidentally received five times the dose of the corona vaccine.
As a precaution, four nurses came to the clinic for observation. Three have already left the hospital. According to the Vorpommern-Rügen district, they had flu-like symptoms. The nurses were reportedly injected with the entire contents of a vaccine vial. In fact, it is enough for five doses of vaccine. After Sunday’s incident, those affected were sent home, as Vorpommern-Rügen district administrator Stefan Kerth (SPD) announced on Monday. Four of the eight affected people were admitted to a hospital for observation as a precautionary measure. All but one person left him again. They showed flu-like symptoms. The district administrator reported that, according to information from the manufacturer Biontech, higher doses of the vaccine had already been tested in test subjects without serious consequences. No permanent adverse events were reported.

In tests, amounts up to 100 micrograms were administered without serious consequences. The usual vaccine dose is 30 micrograms. He referred to the product information that the company supplied with the vaccine. The first sentence reads: “This is a multi-dose vial, the contents of which must be diluted before use.”
