The president-elect of the United States, Biden, appointed his longtime confidant, Ron Klain, as Chief of Staff in the White House. Klain has been by Biden’s side for decades and was already working at the seat of government during the Obama era.

President-elect Joe Biden appointed Adviser Ron Klain as the White House chief of staff. With that, Biden announced his first decision on the composition of his government team that night. In last week’s election, Biden had won against incumbent Donald Trump, but he has yet to acknowledge defeat.

Klain has been an “invaluable advisor” to him over the years, Biden said. Klain’s “deep” and “broad” experience, and his ability to work with people “from across the political spectrum,” are exactly the qualities necessary for a White House chief of staff in the country’s current crisis.

Klain said he was honored by the president-elect’s confidence. She will give her all to lead a talented and diverse team in a White House under Biden and future Vice President Kamala Harris.

Klain was considered a favorite for the publication.

Klain has previously held important government positions. Under former President Barack Obama he was the coordinator of measures against the Ebola epidemic. Klain was also the Chief of Staff in Biden’s office when he was Obama’s vice president. The current appointment of the 59-year-old as Chief of Staff of the entire White House is not surprising: he was considered a favorite for this position.

According to the official schedule, Biden will take office on January 20. He has stated that fighting the Corona crisis is one of his priorities.
