Stuttgart – VfB Stuttgart had their next task in front of their chest on Tuesday after their 5-1 win at Borussia Dortmund. In the home game against 1. FC Union Berlin, coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team woke up late and rewarded themselves at the last minute with a 2-2 performance-based score.

Even before kick-off, the club received bad news with the chest ring: Orel Mangala was injured during warm-up and fell with muscle problems. For him, Philipp Förster moved into the starting line-up on short notice. From the beginning, the promoted team had to accept the 0: 1: Marvin Friedrich was there in the fourth minute after a free kick with the head. In the subsequent course, the white-reds struggled and didn’t really find their way into the game in the first round.
After the break, VfB Stuttgart came out of the booth much better. Nicolás González had two good opportunities to equalize shortly after the restart.
