The first mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, calls on the people of Hamburg to adhere to the new Crown rules. He sees this as the last chance to avoid a complete blockade.
Hamburg’s culture and bars could be closed longer than expected. Although he is convinced that the strict rules of Corona will bring something, said the first mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher (SPD). Nobody knows how things will go in December.
Will there be Christmas markets?
In his opinion, the new rules, which will apply from Monday, are the last chance to avoid a total lockdown. Tschentscher asked everyone to adhere to the rules. He did not want to commit to how much the number of new infections would have to drop before measures can be relaxed again. Tschentscher also left open whether there could be Christmas markets in Hamburg.
Relaxation at UKE station
Meanwhile, Social Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD) observes the situation in hospitals with concern. There are now 150 corona patients in treatment, 39 of them in intensive care units. Due to the still high number of new infections, this number is likely to continue to rise, Leonhard said. On the other hand, relaxation is emerging in the UKE transplant room. Several patients and nurses tested positive for the virus there, but there were no new cases on Friday.
