A great restaurant in the Upper Harz is on fire. 90 firefighters put out the fire in the resort town of Torfhaus. The cause is still unknown.

In the tourist town of Torfhaus in Upper Harz, a large tourist restaurant caught fire on Sunday. Police in Goslar calculated the damage to the property in an initial estimate of 2.5 to 3 million euros. At noon, no information was available on the cause, the fire had been reported around 10:30 a.m. Around 90 firefighters were deployed.

The fire occurred a day before the conditional reopening of restaurants that had been closed for weeks due to the Corona crisis. To the knowledge of the police to date, there were people in the building to prepare for the reopening. Consequently, no one was injured. The peat house, located at an altitude of around 800 meters, is one of the main places for tourism in Harz in winter and summer.
