Since 2018, NSU victims attorney Seda Basay-Yildiz has received threatening letters over and over again. Sender: “NSU 2.0”. For the perpetrators to finally get caught, he has now offered a bounty.

Frankfurt lawyer Seda Basay-Yildiz offered a reward of 5,000 euros for information leading to the capture of the authors of the threatening emails and faxes marked “NSU 2.0”. He did not want to leave a stone unturned to clear up the case, the attorney said.

The lawyer, who was a co-plaintiff in the trial for the murders of the right-wing extremist trio “National Socialist Underground” (NSU), had received several anonymous threatening letters signed with “NSU 2.0” since August 2018. In the first letter, her daughter, then two years old, was named and threatened with death.

Personal information recovered from police computer

The unknown perpetrators had repeatedly provided additional publicly inaccessible information about Basay-Yildiz and his relatives, including his address. Personal data on Basay-Yidiz had previously been recovered from a police computer at a Frankfurt police station.

Meanwhile, other celebrities, especially women, received such threatening emails: including the leader of the left-wing parliamentary group Janine Wissler and cabaret artist Idil Baydar. In both cases, personal data had been accessed from computers at the Wiesbaden police stations.

Racial slurs

“Two years and three months after the first threatening fax, the probability that the case will be solved is quite low,” Basay-Yildiz said. Hence the attempt to offer the reward.

Due to her Turkish ancestry, the German lawyer was also racially insulted in the threatening letters, which were mostly faxed. Despite the appointment of a special investigator, the police investigation has yet to produce any noticeable results.
