Thousands of Trump supporters protest election results

meA week after Joe Biden’s election victory was announced, thousands of supporters of incumbent US President Donald Trump protested the result. In Washington, they gathered at Freedom Plaza near the White House on Saturday as Trump walked slowly past the protest march in an armored limousine.

The crowd cheered, some stood a few feet from the headline’s caravan, others even enthusiastically ran with it. The participants chanted “USA” and “Four More Years”, many raised American flags and banners to express their dissatisfaction with the outcome of the elections.

Parts of Washington cordoned off

Over and over again the slogan was heard that “the elections had been stolen.” The president made this accusation and spoke of alleged manipulation without any proof. Senior representatives of the US electoral authorities and industry recently stated that the November 3 election and vote counting went smoothly, aside from the typical minor setbacks. It was “the safest option in American history,” they said.

After the lap around Freedom Plaza, the incumbent headed to his golf club in Virginia. After that, Trump fans across the country took the floor, and after an hour the crowd moved to the Supreme Court.

There was massive publicity on social media for the “MAGA Million March” based on the Trump campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.” This fueled concern that protesters could collide with Trump opponents who have been staying near the White House in Black Lives Matter Plaza for weeks. As a precautionary measure, police cordoned off much of central Washington.
