This is how the Germans describe the closure at Christmas

The easing during Christmas days will not work, instead there is now a strict lockdown. Only the supporters of two parties reject by majority the resolutions of the federal and state governments.

Actually, the partial closure should bring a reasonably relaxed vacation from early November, but nothing will come out. Daily infections reported with coronavirus are rising rapidly againThat is why the federal and state governments have withdrawn the promised relaxation on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Schools, kindergartens and stores in most countries are due to close on Wednesday.

On behalf of t-online, the Civey polling institute asked more than 5,000 German voters what they thought of the harsh blockade across the country from December 16 to January 10. The exclusive and representative survey result is clear.

FDP and AfD supporters reject the blockade

58.1 percent of those surveyed consider the strict blockade to be “clearly correct”, 11.6 percent “quite correct” – a total of 69.7 percent rate the measure positively. More than one in six think the decisions are “definitely wrong”, while 3.8 percent say “somewhat wrong”. Overall, about one in five rejects the new crown rules. Almost one in ten is a tie.

Looking at the political sympathies of the respondents, the Civey poll result is pretty clear: only a majority of FDP and AfD voters think the blockade is “wrong”; supporters of all other parties represented in the Bundestag support him with a large majority. A little more than half of the FDP supporters surveyed reject the blockade, around one in three support it. Among AfD supporters surveyed, more than 70 percent say “no,” one in six thinks they are right.

Union and SPD supporters with a large majority for the closure

The CDU / CSU and SPD coalition, on the other hand, can trust their constituency when it comes to closure. Almost 85 percent of the Union’s supporters believe that the decision of the federal and state governments is correct, only a few reject it. The picture is similar among the Social Democrats: 86 percent of SPD voters welcome the shutdown, 6.9 percent reject it. The picture is similar with supporters of the Greens.

Among supporters of the Left Party, almost 70 percent support the blockade during the holidays, one in five reject it. Among supporters of other parties, 47.6 percent reject the shutdown, 36.5 percent agree and 14.7 percent are undecided.

To the methodology: The survey included the responses of 5,090 people selected as representative of the population, who were asked online between December 13 and 14, 2020: “How would you rate that a ‘hard crown lockdown’ will take place? nationwide from December 16 to December 10, 2020? Was January imposed on Christmas with exceptions? “The statistical error of the general results is 2.5 percent; it may vary according to subgroups.
