SedanTo contain the crown pandemic, public life in Berlin will be partially shut down for four weeks from November 2. The Senate on Thursday passed far-reaching restrictions on citizens, food, culture and sports. Therefore, it is implementing a partial blockade agreed to by the federal and state governments. There was a lot of common ground and unity in the Senate, Berlin’s ruling mayor Michael Müller said at a news conference Thursday night.
That includes partial blocking
- Public, contact restrictions: Only members of two households with a maximum of ten people can stay in public. Children up to 12 years of age in a joint teaching and care group are exempt from this rule in Berlin.. Outdoor events with more than 100 people are prohibited, as well as events in closed rooms with more than 50 people.
- Schools and kindergartens: Schools and kindergartens must remain open reliably. Playgrounds in Berlin should also stay open if possible, but that has to be decided by the districts.
- Retail trade: The opening of the retail trade is allowed provided that a minimum distance of one person is ensured for every 10 square meters of sales area.
- Entertainment events: Theaters, operas and concert halls should close. This also applies to trade shows, cinemas, amusement parks, arcades, casinos, and betting shops. Brothels and other places of prostitution will also be closed. Museums in Germany must also close. The culture ministers of the federal states agreed on this on Thursday. The loans will be kept in the Berlin libraries. Berlin music schools remain open. The outdoor facilities of the Berlin Zoo and Animal Park, for example, also remain open. The Christmas and annual markets cannot open.
- Sport: Hobbyist sports and leisure businesses will be closed at all public and private sports facilities, as well as swimming pools and amusement pools and fitness studios. This does not apply to children up to 12 years old in Berlin; they can continue training in fixed groups of up to ten people outdoors.. Professional sport should only be conducted without spectators.
- Gastronomy and hotels: Restaurants, bars, clubs, discos, pubs and similar establishments will be closed from Monday. Delivery and collection of food for consumption at home should be excluded from this. Canteens can open: two people can sit at a table. The ban on serving alcohol from 11 pm to 6 am is still in effect in Berlin, as Müller explained.. Hotels and guest houses can no longer accept tourists.
- Personal hygiene: Cosmetic studios, massage practices, or tattoo studios should close, but medically necessary treatments such as physical therapy should be possible. Beauty salons remain open, unlike spring, but under existing hygiene requirements.
- Economy: Industry, commerce and medium-sized companies must be able to work safely and completely. Employers must protect their employees from infection. Whenever possible, home work should be possible.
“We can only master this situation if we move forward together to control the situation,” Müller said, admitting that the measures that have been decided so far have failed. “Now we must intervene with courage and act decisively.”
A special session of the House of Representatives on the Corona situation is scheduled for Sunday. Müller then issues a government statement on new measures to contain the pandemic. Then the deputies want to debate it.
