“There is a lot of suffering ahead”: Fauci, Corona expert, warns Americans

At the start of the pandemic, health expert Fauci comes into the limelight as an advisor to the president of the United States. Despite differences of opinion, he remains on Trump’s advisory board, which is unlikely to meet the expert’s latest forecasts for the next few months.

Shortly before the US elections, prominent American health expert Anthony Fauci prepared Americans for a worsening pandemic. “We are facing a lot of suffering. It is not a good situation,” Fauci told the Washington Post in an interview. The United States “could not possibly be worse off” ahead of fall and winter.

According to data from the “New York Times”, the United States surpassed the 99,000 mark of new infections registered for the first time on Friday and on Saturday another 84,000 cases were added. Fauci is part of the White House coronavirus task force. While President Donald Trump is in favor of a return to normal despite the high number of cases, Fauci is campaigning for protective measures to contain the corona virus. Trump has criticized the renowned expert several times in the past, accused him of mistakes and most recently called him a “catastrophe.” According to the “New York Times” statistics, the pandemic in the United States has so far killed more than 230,000 people.

A few days ago, Trump accused doctors of falsely registering heart and cancer patients infected with the coronavirus as Covid-19 deaths after their death in order to earn more money. Most Americans believe that Trump has poor crisis management in polls. In polls, Fauci is much more confident than Trump. Fauci told the Washington Post that he last spoke to Trump in early October when he was being treated at Walter Reed Military Hospital for his Covid 19 illness.

Fauci criticized radiologist Scott Atlas, who now advises Trump on the corona virus. “I have real problems with the guy,” Fauci said. Atlas talks about things “that I think he has no real vision, knowledge or experience of. He keeps talking about things that, when dissected and analyzed, make no sense.” White House communications director Alyssa Farah dismissed Fauci’s criticism on Fox News. But he also admitted that there was “some disagreement” among experts on the White House coronavirus task force.

Trump carries out numerous mass demonstrations in the last moment of the election campaign. Five Republican appearances were planned for Sunday alone. His supporters generally don’t wear a mask at events, this also applies to Trump himself. His Democratic challenger Joe Biden is also on an election campaign tour, but he observes the protective measures recommended by experts at his rallies. Biden accuses Trump of failing to protect Americans in the pandemic. In the United States, the vote will take place this Tuesday.
