SedanFor the first time since the introduction of the traffic light system to assess the situation of the crown in Berlin, the warning value for intensive care beds has been exceeded. More than a quarter (25.3 percent) of these beds are now occupied by Covid 19 patients, according to the health administration status report released Sunday to Saturday. This means that two of the three traffic lights in Corona are now red.

The traffic light of the so-called seven-day incidence is also red: the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week is currently 200.9 in Berlin. The critical threshold is 50.

In Berlin, 824 new infections with the corona virus were last recorded in one day, according to the current status report. The total number of people infected since the start of the pandemic has risen to 63,888, and 41,421 people are now considered to have recovered, 659 more than on Friday.

So far, 550 people have died in Berlin in connection with a corona infection. That is, there are currently eleven new deaths.

The crown traffic light for the so-called four-day R-value is shown in green. It is currently given as 0.82.

Kalayci: It is better to wear a mask everywhere.

Berlin Health Senator Dilek Kalayci warned of overloading hospitals in the Corona crisis. “The persistently high number of infections is leading to increased use of intensive care beds for more and more seriously ill Covid-19 patients,” the SPD policy tweeted Sunday via its agency account.

“As a precautionary measure, we monitor capacities in Berlin at an early stage so that worse things can be avoided so far,” Kalayci said. On the hospital scene, the situation is also getting worse because staff are absent due to the crown. The health senator appealed to avoid overloading employees in hospitals. “That is why it is imperative to refrain from any contact that is not absolutely necessary.” Kalayci urged people to wear a mask “ideally everywhere” and keep their distance.
