Germany has a new Miss Germany: Anja Kallenbach prevailed over her competition on Saturday. At 33, she was the oldest finalist this year.

Anja Kallenbach is the new Miss Germany. The 33-year-old from Thuringia was named the most beautiful woman in Germany on Saturday at Europa-Park in Rust, Baden. Previously, it had prevailed against 15 competitors from the other federal states.

For her, success “is not to think, but to make it easy, with a lot of humor and passion,” she said shortly before her victory. The mother of two claims to have struggled in school, but eventually earned a degree. She then worked as a managing director at a retail company and rides a mountain bike in her spare time.

With her victory, Anja Kallenbach replaces Leonie von Hase, “Miss Germany” from last year. She was the first mother to be elected “Miss Germany” and at 35 she was also the oldest candidate to receive the title. Meanwhile, the competition should no longer focus primarily on looks, but rather on the personality and charisma of women.

This year, an activist fighting discrimination against fat people, a survivor of sexual violence, a Jehovah’s Witness who dropped out of school and a woman with an artificial anus made it to the final. By the way, there was no longer any etiquette training or bikini show in front of a male-dominated jury.

“Miss Germany” does not receive any prize money and can largely decide for herself what to do with her title. In any case, there will be increased awareness and therefore possibly a push for your own projects.
