WIf you want to fly from Germany to the Netherlands, you need a negative PCR corona test when you check in from December 29. This also applies to travelers by train, bus or boat, as announced by the Foreign Ministry on Friday evening. The test should not be longer than 72 hours. However, there will be no border controls on the border between Germany and the Netherlands, according to the Federal Foreign Office.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, the Netherlands has declared Germany a risk zone. Anyone who has arrived in the Netherlands is strongly advised to undergo a ten-day home quarantine. The negative test required to enter the Netherlands is not a substitute for quarantine.

Meanwhile, the situation in Dutch hospitals is getting worse. All regularly scheduled treatments have been canceled, as the Ministry of Health in The Hague decided on Tuesday. As a result, as many employees as possible must be released to care for corona patients. Acute medical care that cannot be postponed, such as for cancer patients, must be ensured.

According to the Health Ministry, more patients will be transferred to intensive care units in German clinics. This had already happened during the first Corona wave in spring. Two patients were only transported to a clinic in Dortmund on Monday. The number of intensive care beds in the Netherlands will also increase by 300 to 1,450 across the country. According to Johns Hopkins University, 11,591 new infections have been reported in the Netherlands in the last 24 hours.
