In the final of the French Open on Sunday (3pm) there will be a duel between the giants between world number one Novak Djokovic and Paris record Rafael Nadal.

The 33-year-old Serbian beat Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas 6: 3, 6: 2, 5: 7, 4: 6, 6: 1 on Friday night. In the previous semi-finals, Diego Schwartzman bravely defended himself, but had no chance against Nadal in 3: 6, 3: 6, 6: 7 (0: 7). Nadal and Djokovic have already met 55 times, in a direct comparison the Serbian leads 29:26.

Unlike the quarterfinals against Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta, when Djokovic lost the first set and was physically abused, he started against the ATP world champion focused and focused. After a quick 2-0 lead in the set, he had a match point in the third round with a score of 5: 4 and it looked like he was already on his way to the locker room. But the 22-year-old Greek responded, defended himself, and decided on passage 7: 5 for himself. Now, finally, a passionate test of strength unfolded on an equal footing.

At the beginning of the fourth sentence, Tsitsipas had to undergo a brief groin treatment and took a pain pill. But because Djokovic only used one of eleven break balls, he also hit the fourth set. In the fifth, Tsitsipas doubled down to make the decisive 1: 4. Now he was visibly battered, defended himself from the first match point, but was beaten after 3.54 hours.
