A few days after a major fall near Sellin on the island of Rügen, there was another landslide on the cliff. This became known during a visit by the State Minister of the Environment, Till Backhaus. This minor demolition and an old bunker, which is also in danger of slipping, could become a drag on the community, explained the SPD minister after his visit. Backhaus announced an examination of whether the country can help financially. The reason for the ministerial visit was a major landslide on the rugged Baltic Sea coast on November 14.

  • Here, about 150 square meters of a steep slope with tall trees north of the pier fell onto the beach.
  • According to Mayor Reinhard Liedtke, the static on this slope, which is about 30 meters high, was considered unsafe for a long time.
  • The originally planned maintenance measures failed due to responsibilities. More recently, the community wanted to replace trees with shrubs in November, but that no longer happened.
