After Easter, the first municipalities will test loosening with the help of the Luca app and rapid tests in pilot projects. Up to 25 regions must be selected.
“Our aim is to obtain the knowledge that jurisprudence rightly demands,” Lower Saxony’s deputy crisis chief Claudia Schröder said Tuesday in Hannover at the Corona crisis team press conference. Districts can submit applications for model regions through Wednesday night. Schröder expects several hundred applications. The decision must then be made on Holy Saturday and the municipalities must be promptly informed. Higher, middle and sub-centers will be selected from all over the country. Three-week trial phases are planned, which municipalities should evaluate within two weeks, Schröder added.
More and more municipalities impose curfews
The updated Crown regulation of the state of Lower Saxony came into effect on Monday. Establish night curfews for areas with incidence values above 150. Some municipalities have already implemented this curfew, others are likely to follow, because: Incidence values are currently increasing almost everywhere in Lower Saxony. Therefore, Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) had asked citizens to stay home for Easter and reduce personal contacts as much as possible.
Schröder: Speak no evil at AstraZeneca
Faced with news that the state of Berlin is suspending vaccines against AstraZeneca for those under 60 as a precautionary measure, Claudia Schröder urges calm. “I am against denouncing the vaccines that are inoculated in other countries,” said the head of the crisis team. The vaccine is being closely monitored by experts. Lower Saxony will wait for a recommendation from the Permanent Commission for Vaccination (Stiko) which is expected today and will then coordinate with the other countries. “It makes sense to proceed uniformly across the country.”
