Passengers can board taxis from Berlin and Brandenburg at the future BER airport. 300 taxis from the capital and the Dahme-Spreewald district will be able to arrive at the airport from the scheduled opening on October 31.

The Senate Traffic Administration announced Wednesday that an agreement had been signed. The district confirmed the agreement.

Both sides had fought for an agreement for years. Because in reality taxi drivers can only pick up passengers in the districts or municipalities where they have their license. Therefore, Berlin taxis should take customers to Schönefeld, but not new people from there.

Now the airport market is divided. Should more taxes be necessary, licenses should continue to be granted in equal parts. Renegotiations will take place starting at 1,100 vehicles.

Transport Senator Regine Günther (Greens) emphasized that this is a very good result for the interests of both countries. Therefore, district drivers can pick up customers at all taxi ranks in Berlin.

A uniform taxi fare for the airport has yet to be agreed. Until then, the fare may vary depending on whether BER passengers board a taxi with a B or an LDS on the license plate.
