Berlin – A suspicious package at the Bundestag post office! Explosives alert!

According to information from BILD, the suspicious object was discovered around 10 am Tuesday. Police operation! The officers also moved in with artillery clearance from the State Criminal Police Office.

According to BILD information, the package was addressed to SPD politician and health expert Karl Lauterbach (57)!

A Bundestag spokesman announced that the Bundestag police had classified it as a “suspicious case” in a post-X-ray check.

The Bundestag post office is not directly in the Reichstag building. But at Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, which is very close. Access is through an underground car park.

Based on information from BILD, the situation on the site is currently fairly calm overall. The investigation of the suspicious package is still ongoing.

It is not yet known whether the police also act in the Reichstag building, where the Bundestag meets.

BILD reporter Axel Lier first reported on the found package.

“Suspicion of USBV at the Bundestag post office,” he said Tuesday morning. “USBV” is short for “Unconventional Incendiary and Explosive Device”.
