Freiburg – Scarlett (26) smiles and looks at the camera, showing which plants she found on her tour of the Black Forest.

The image is one of the last signs of life for the young woman from Bad Lippspringe (NRW): the experienced hiker has been missing for a week. Her family desperately searches for her and the anxious question arises: What happened?

One thing is for sure: on September 4, Scarlett S. traveled to Stühlingen (Ba.-Wü.) in the southern Black Forest. From there she wanted to walk alone along the “Schluchtensteig” (119 kilometers long) to Wehr.

Five days later, on September 9, he sent photos to his family for the last time via WhatsApp. On September 10, she was filmed by a supermarket surveillance camera, shortly after leaving her hotel in Todtmoos.

Sister Janina G. to BILD: “We are afraid for her, we have not heard anything in seven days.” The family had informed the police and now they have traveled to the Black Forest themselves.

Her Sister Says: Scarlett had previously been abroad and came back for Corona. On the walk, she obviously wanted to enjoy the silence on her own.

Had an accident?

Chief Inspector Mathias Albicker (48) to BILD: “If you leave the Schluchtensteig road, you end up on very difficult terrain.”

Scarlett was trained and experienced. Police, firefighters and mountain rescue services scoured the region. The dogs searched Scarlett’s trail, police drones and helicopters flew over the area. Vain.

Scarlett’s sister says, “After so long, you have to fear it all.”
