Stronger corona rules: mask requirement in central Munich

[ad_1]

Anyone who wants to go to Munich city center from today (Thursday) must observe the new rules: from now on, a mask requirement will apply in many places. It is one of the several measures with which the Bavarian capital wants to contain the corona pandemic, because the incidence of 7 days is still above the threshold value 50. As announced, Mayor Dieter Reiter had therefore issued a new general decree .

Signs indicate that a mask is required.

Signs with notices in German and English now remind city center visitors of the mask requirement, which always applies from 9 am to 11 pm Specifically, this affects the pedestrian zone in the Old Town which includes Schützenstraße, Stachus and Marienplatz, Sendlinger Straße which includes Sendlinger-Tor-Platz, Viktualienmarkt and all the sidewalks in the valley. Only children up to the age of six and those who cannot wear mouth and nose protection due to disability or health reasons are exempt from the mask requirement. All others face a fine of 250 euros for infractions. This is what the general decree that the city issued that night says.

Contact restrictions: meet with a maximum of five people

There are also restrictions for meetings in public and private spaces, as well as in restaurants. They are only allowed at the same table with members of their own household or another household, partners, “straight-line” relatives, siblings, or in groups of up to five people. Previously ten were allowed.

Restrictions for private parties

Stricter rules also come into effect for private celebrations such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, graduation parties, and club and party gatherings: a maximum of 25 people (previously 100) can participate in closed rooms and a maximum of 50 (previously 200 ) outdoor. The prerequisite is that the organizer can present a concept of protection and hygiene.

Again the alcohol ban for the hotspots on weekends

For the five already known party “hotspots” in Munich, a nighttime alcohol ban will again be imposed on the weekend. This applies to Baldeplatz, Gärtnerplatz, Gerner Brücke, Wedekindplatz and in the floodplains of the Isar between Reichenbachbrücke and Wittelsbacherbrücke. On Saturday and Sunday nights it is no longer allowed to drink alcohol in public spaces between 11pm and 6pm, and the sale of alcohol “to go” is prohibited after 9pm, even in the surroundings. Violations can result in fines of at least 150 euros (consumption) or 500 euros (sales).

Other measures are possible

The new regulations should initially apply for seven days, after which a new decision should be made as to whether infection values remain so high that measures should be extended. The Lord Mayor Reiter had already announced earlier in the week that the Munich crisis team would discuss further restrictions if the value was still well above 50 in two weeks. For example, then a general mask requirement is possible in the city area. The current incidence value of 7 days is 51.04.
