Leipzig – New information on the fatal confrontation at Willy-Brandt-Platz in front of the Leipziger Hauptbahnhof: As is now known, the murder weapon was apparently found. The perpetrator is said to be on the run.

As a responsible police spokeswoman said Friday morning, investigators are still looking for a suspect.

In crime scene footage, however, it can be seen that the murder weapon, packed in a small holster, is already secured. According to information from TAG24, this was discovered near the Höfe am Brühl, where the second victim of the incident was also injured.

As the officials had already announced on Thursday night, the terrible event had occurred around 7:30 p.m. A dispute is said to have escalated in the Willy-Brandt-Platz area in front of Leipzig Central Station (TAG24 reported). A man was attacked with a stabbing weapon. According to unconfirmed information, he was stabbed in the chest.

The injuries were so severe that he died on the spot.

It is not yet clear how many people were involved in the dispute and what exactly happened.

Police plan to provide more information later in the day.

The wanted suspect in the case of the man who was stabbed to death outside Leipzig Central Station is apparently already captured. As the police announced on Friday afternoon, it is the seriously injured person who was discovered in the Brühl courtyards area.

According to the police, the seriously injured person is a 25-year-old Tunisian and the dead person is a 29-year-old Libyan.

According to current knowledge, the two men had argued. The 25-year-old stabbed the 29-year-old, but was also seriously injured. It is currently unclear why the dispute occurred.

The 25-year-old was provisionally arrested. Today he will be brought before the judge.
