As a result of the Corona crisis, the number of patients among dentists and therapists is rapidly decreasing. The Ministry of Health now wants to help them and expand aid for health professionals.
The Federal Ministry of Health now wants to provide financial support to other health professions in the Corona crisis. As the Ministry announced, therapists, dentists and rehabilitation facilities for the cure of parents and children during the coronavirus pandemic will receive financial support in the future.
Mitigate failures
The reason for this is the numbers of disruptive patients. Failures must be mitigated with a protective screen. The aid will take effect next week and will complement the support measures that have already been decided, for example, for resident hospitals and doctors. “To maintain well-functioning structures, we will cushion losses and ensure liquidity,” Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn told the “German editorial network.”
According to the plans of the Ministry of Health, for example, physical therapists must receive 40 percent of their remuneration as of the fourth quarter of 2019 as a one-time grant. Despite a sharp drop in patient numbers, dentists would initially receive 90 percent of last year’s compensation. At the end of the year, they can keep 30 percent of the overpaid amount.
For rehabilitation facilities for parent-child cures, 60 percent of the daily rate for empty beds must be received in the future. In general, the new aid has a volume of around 970 million euros.
Rescue package for clinics, doctors and nurses.
By the end of March, Spahn had already provided aid to hospitals, doctors, and nurses. The legislative package provides additional funding for clinics by postponing predictable operations and treatments, thereby creating more capacity for Covid patient care 19.
There is a flat rate of 560 euros per day for each free bed. The clinics receive a bonus of 50,000 euros for each new intensive care treatment unit with artificial ventilation. According to Spahn, the “rescue package” could total up to ten billion euros.
