Health Minister Spahn sees Germany well equipped in the fight against Corona in the fall. Learn to deal with the virus every day. at Extra ARD however, it warns of greater relaxation.

The number of new infections is increasing dramatically in neighboring European countries, and again there are many more cases in this country – it was repeatedly warned that the coronavirus could spread more rapidly again after the summer. But Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn sees Germany in a different situation than it was in the spring. “We are much better equipped,” said the CDU politician in Extra ARD on the status of the crown. There is more testing capacity and protective equipment for medical personnel.

“We’ve known that for more than six months, too,” Spahn said. “We know how we can control intensive capabilities more precisely so operations don’t have to be canceled.” There are medications and treatments. Medicine now knows better when Covid 19 patients should and when they shouldn’t.

AHA rules yes, relaxes no

Daily life with the virus has also changed. There was total uncertainty in February and March. “Step by step, day by day” becomes a risk, “like other risks in life that we learn to face.” Now you know how to protect yourself when dealing with others, in retail, in the salon.

“The AHA rules are banal, but very effective: distance, hygiene, everyday masks. If we continue like this, I am very confident that in six months we will be able to further improve daily life and protection against infection.” Germany has weathered the crisis well so far and is confident for the near future, the minister said.

Spahn thinks little of further relaxation of the crown rules for clubs and bars, as discussed in some federal states. The virus would spread especially quickly at parties. You have to be especially careful in autumn and winter.

Spahn recalled once again that the Prime Minister had agreed with the Chancellor at the end of August that there should be no further major opening steps “when the figures were even lower than today”. People should also give up holidays outside Germany in the near future. Experience has shown that “travel and mobility create additional risks of infection.”

“Currently I am not attracted to the stadium”

On the other hand, it supports the fact that spectators should be allowed to enter football stadiums again. Although he is not currently attracted to the stadium. But it is important for clubs to practice their protection concepts now. “Now they have to work on the practice, especially when traveling to and from the airport. That is also the sore point at other major events.”

The Health Minister had previously presented measures to help Germany get through the fall. He proposed central fever clinics, special measures for the risk group, rapid antigen tests and new quarantine rules.

Consultations with the Chancellor next week

Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to re-consult with federal state prime ministers in the middle of next week on measures to counter the growing number of new corona infections, the dpa news agency reported. The background is the disturbing fact that several large cities have exceeded the important limit of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in one week. In addition, there is a diffuse spread of Corona in several places in Germany without a clear location of the outbreak being recognized. By Sunday, for example, crown numbers in Munich had reached 55.6 new infections. Today, the city of Hamm, in North Rhine-Westphalia, registered a value of 70.9.
