Sony releases “Cyberpunk 2077” from Playstation Store

In view of the technical problems of “Cyberpunk 2077”, Sony has decided to take a drastic step: the action game has been removed from the official Playstation store. On Twitter, Sony also promises to offer a full refund to all players who purchased the game from the Playstation Store.

This approach to such a popular game is unique. In recent days, Sony had rejected a refund for the PS4 version of “Cyberpunk 2077” from several customers. Now all players requesting a refund must get their money back, apparently regardless of playing time. Sony writes, “all gamers who bought ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ from the Playstation Store” could get a refund if they wanted.

This apparently affects all versions of “Cyberpunk 2077”: Users mainly complained about the disastrous technical condition of the PS4 version, but according to Sony’s writing, the versions for PS4 Pro and Playstation 5 can also be returned. These versions of the CD Projekt action game are also not available from Sony’s online store.

The sockets on the “Cyberpunk 2077” console have numerous technical flaws. In addition to bugs and glitches, performance on seven-year-old consoles is also poor: while dynamic resolution often drops to 720p, frame rate on PS4 and Xbox One often drops to 15 FPS or less. CD Projekt has announced several patches for the next few months that should bring improvements. In the run-up to launch, the Polish studio had hidden the console version from game testers.

It’s unclear when “Cyberpunk 2077” will be back on the Playstation Store. In a note on its investor website, CD Projekt writes that Sony’s decision was the result of negotiations with the Polish studio. A few days ago, CD Projekt had informed buyers of the console versions that they could request a refund. Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, currently offers refunds to customers in most cases, but has yet to remove the game from its store.
