secondAyern wants to create a special unit to fight the crown in nursing homes. That’s what Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) said to “Bild am Sonntag” (“BamS”). As early as Monday, the resident task force should be deployed to about 1,500 inpatient nursing and retirement homes and about 800 facilities for the disabled, Söder said. The goal is to protect those most severely affected from infection.

According to information from the newspaper, the unit will be made up of more than 200 employees, who come from the state offices of nursing and health and home supervision at the site. They are supposed to support facilities in prevention, advise when residents are sick, and monitor the implementation of measures.

Klaus Holetschek (CSU), Bavarian State Secretary for Health and Care, said according to “BamS” that the flexible unit will be activated as soon as the first positive Corona case occurs to help the respective facilities and prevent a major outbreak.

In Canada, vaccinations are already being applied, in Germany they should start at the end of December, even in nursing homes. But can it work?

In the report, Söder prepares Germany for a possible longer lockdown than on January 10. The current figures are so high that it would be wrong to start a debate on relaxation at this point, he said. “Unfortunately, the Corona winter will be long.”
