League A, Group 3: Portugal and France tied on points
The Portuguese scored in a 2-0 (1-0) victory in the Nations League game in Sweden on Tuesday with a first-half stoppage time free kick to take a 1-0 lead. Ronaldo also scored the final score in the 72nd minute with the 101st hit on the national team jersey. Only Iranian Ali Daei has more goals than the exceptional 35-year-old with 109 international goals.
France defeated Croatia 4-2 in the same Group 3 and is tied on points with Portugal, who have a better goal difference (+5, France +3). Equipe Tricolore fell behind at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis thanks to a goal from former Liverpool player Dejan Lovren (17th). Antoine Griezmann (43rd), who tied with France icon Zinedine Zidane with his 31st goal and an own goal from Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic (45th + 1) turned the game around before the break. RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano (65th) with his first international goal and a converted penalty from Oliver Giroud (77th) made it all clear for the hosts after Wolfsburg’s Josip Brekalo drew in the meantime.
League A, Group 2: Belgium without problems, England weak
In Group 2, Belgium beat Iceland 5-1 (2-1) without problems. After an early goal from Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson (11th), Axel Witsel (13th) from Dortmund, former BVB forward Michy Batshuayi (17th / 69th), Dries Mertens (50th) and Jeremy Doku (80th ) the Brussels meeting in favor of the Red Devils.
Only England weakened and failed to build on their initial success (1-0 in Iceland). The Three Lions did not beat 0-0 in Denmark. This puts Belgium in the lead with six points, followed by England in second place with four points.
