After a woman died in a serious traffic accident in the community of Saterland (Cloppenburg district) on Friday night, an eleven-year-old boy who was also sitting in the car died from his injuries at a hospital. When Hendrik Ebmeyer, a spokesman for the Cloppenburg police, announced that two other children were in mortal danger, three were seriously injured. The 32-year-old passenger was also seriously injured. Eight people sat in the car, the model is approved for seven people.
The police await a statement from the passenger.
According to the police, four of the children belong to the 37-year-old deceased, the other two belong to the seriously injured 32-year-old passenger. The children are said to be between the ages of two and 13. It is not yet clear to what extent the excessive number of occupants affected the severity of the consequences of the accident, according to Ebmeyer. The police await the passenger’s statement. So far, the woman has yet to be heard.
Car crashes into a tree
According to police, the car crashed into a tree on Friday night around 7 pm on a straight route about 40 kilometers east of the Lower Saxony-Netherlands border. No further details are known about the course of the accident. Several helicopters and ambulances were used.
