On Sunday, Schleswig-Holstein identified Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Berlin’s third district, as a national risk area due to the high number of corona infections.

The districts of Berlin-Mitte and Berlin-Neukölln are also still considered a risk area in the north, as a spokesman for the Health Ministry told the German Press Agency on Sunday.

For vacationers or those returning from vacation, this means that they must immediately go into quarantine for 14 days or they must submit two negative corona tests within five days.

In addition to the three districts of Berlin, the cities of Hamm and Remscheid, both in North Rhine-Westphalia, are also considered risk areas in the northernmost state.

The basis for classifying as such an area is incidence, that is, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. According to the Berlin Senate Administration, on Saturday it was 59.2 for Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, 61.7 in Mitte and 56.7 in Neukölln. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the value of the city of Hamm on Sunday was 99.4, in Remscheid it was 58.6.

Since the end of June, the northern federal state has also identified regions within Germany as risk areas.
