Saxony-Anhalt tightens crown rules: Christmas plan is still open

Starting December 1, only five people will meet

Since December 1, only five people can meet in Saxony-Anhalt. The state government decided on Friday afternoon and changed the eighth ordinance to contain the corona pandemic accordingly. Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) said at a press conference late Friday that the state was implementing the joint resolutions of the federal and state governments. Difference: Meetings in Saxony-Anhalt are not limited to two households. That goes beyond the reality of people’s lives, he said to justify.

Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) said that children as young as 14 are exempt from the regulation. However, this only applies to children who are related to one of the five people or who belong to your household. According to information from the Minister of Health, this should prevent, for example, the celebration of children’s birthdays. Currently is not the time.

Rules for Christmas days only in mid-December

Prime Minister Haseloff claimed that the rules adopted by his government are initially valid until December 20. But that doesn’t automatically mean that relaxation is possible during the Christmas holidays. The head of government said that this cannot be reliably guaranteed today. This will be decided in mid-December. Only then could it be possible to plan family visits during the Christmas period. Therefore, the current regulations remain in force: restaurants, hotels (for overnight stays for tourist reasons) or cultural sites must remain closed until at least December 20.

It is up to us how Christmas and New Years will be.

Haseloff further stated that the 7-day incidence in Saxony-Anhalt is currently 95.9. This means that in the last seven days, almost 96 people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been infected with the virus. The particular drivers are the Burgenlandkreis with an incidence of 152.6 and the Saalekreis with 158.9. The prime minister said there was a group in the Burgenland district. Almost half of all cases are concentrated in the city of Weißenfels. There, quarantine controls will be expanded in coordination with the district, Haseloff said.
