Even stricter rules of contact on New Years Eve, exchange classes, and even curfews – Bavarian Prime Minister Söder is apparently aiming for a tougher course in the fight against Corona. And you are not alone in your opinion.
AIn view of the high number of corona infections, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has scheduled a cabinet meeting for Sunday noon. As the “Münchner Merkur” reported on Saturday, Söder is planning a further tightening of crown restrictions in the Free State. According to the State Chancellery, the Council of Ministers wants to discuss “new measures” by video at 12 noon.
For example, alternate lessons in schools for older students, stricter rules of contact on New Year’s Eve and possible curfews are being negotiated. However, the details of the new measures are still open.
Saarland Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) had also spoken out in favor of tightening Corona’s rules after Christmas. “One thing is clear: we must not take risks, not even on New Years Eve. That is why we should, if the numbers remain at this high level, play it safe and return to the current strict Corona regulations before New Years Eve, “said Hans of the” Augsburger Allgemeine. “
In recent days, Söder had repeatedly indicated that he considered a tougher course necessary due to the increasing number of new infections. However, he left open how to reduce the number of contacts. More stringent measures are possible in schools and commerce, as well as exit restrictions.
Rules that the federal and state governments have agreed to
The federal and state governments agreed to relax restrictions on fighting the spread of the corona virus during the Christmas holidays. Meetings with close relatives or friends should be possible from December 23 to January 1 at the latest, with a maximum of ten people. Children up to 14 years old are not counted. There is currently a limit of five people from two households for this type of meeting.
Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on people to remain calm in the debate over tightening the rules. Additional restrictions should be carefully considered, the SPD politician told Deutschlandfunk.
He knows that for many it is difficult not to lose courage, said Scholz. But once the decisions have been made, they must be jointly represented later. This is also part of leadership. Scholz added that the previous restrictions weren’t too light. They would have worked, although not yet to the extent desired.
