The number of corona cases in Germany is not stabilizing. The RKI has again reported more than 22,000 new infections. There have also been many deaths.
The number of new corona infections reported in Germany in 24 hours was 22,268 on Thursday, again almost at last week’s record level. A week ago, the number of new infections reported was 22,609. Health authorities have also informed the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) of 389 new deaths related to the coronavirus; the day before there were 410. The total number of deaths increased to 15,160.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted a total of 983,588 infections detected with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany and estimates that around 676,100 people have recovered.
According to RKI’s situation report on Wednesday night, the so-called seven-day R was 0.87 (previous day: 0.90). This means that 100 infected people infect almost 87 more people. The value represents the appearance of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
