Once again, the number of corona cases reported daily in Germany has increased significantly. Yesterday there were 14,000, today the number exceeds 17,000. But there are good news.

In Germany, more than 17,000 new coronavirus infections were recorded in one day. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Wednesday morning, citing information from health authorities, 17,561 new cases of infection were registered in one day. The day before, there were more than 14,000 new infections. However, compared to the previous week, the RKI recorded a slight decrease in the number of infections: 18,487 cases were reported last Wednesday.

According to the latest figures from the institute, a total of 833,307 cases of infection have been registered in Germany since the start of the pandemic. The number of deaths associated with the new coronavirus rose nationwide to 13,119, this was 305 more than the day before. The number of people recovered was around 546,500.

According to RKI’s situation report on Tuesday night, the so-called seven-day R was 0.97 (previous day: 0.97). This means that 100 infected people infect almost 100 more people. The value represents the onset of infection 8-16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
