The Robert Koch Institute reports 22,461 new infections in one day. The number is below the high of 23,542 reported on Friday. The value is also a bit lower compared to Saturday last week.

IIn Germany, health authorities reported 22,461 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in 24 hours. That’s 1,081 fewer cases than on Friday, as RKI data shows on Saturday morning. The value is also a bit lower compared to Saturday last week. At that time, the number of new infections reported was 23,399.

The previous peak was reached on Friday with 23,542 cases. Compared to Thursday, the number of new cases reported increased by nearly 1,700 on Friday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI has counted a total of 773,556 infections detected with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany (as of November 14, 00:00). The number of deaths related to the virus rose 178 through Saturday to a total of 12,378. On Friday, that increase was 218 cases. The RKI estimates that around 493,200 people have recovered.

According to RKI’s situation report on Friday night, the so-called seven-day R was 0.99 (previous day: 0.93). This means that, in theory, 100 infected people infect another 99 people. The value represents the appearance of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.
