Thousands of people gathered at Alexanderplatz at Sunday lunchtime, initially peacefully. But the mood changed quickly.
They wanted to demonstrate against the Corona measures. Because they did not comply, their demonstration was dissolved.
2500 people announced themselves at Berlin’s Alexanderplatz to speak out against Berlin Senate ordinances to contain the corona virus, around 2000 arrived. As there were more than 100 people, the police asked the protesters through a loudspeaker to keep a minimum distance and to wear masks, which many of those present did not want.
When they tried to start the demonstration from Karl-Marx-Allee to Bersarinplatz anyway, some 20 police officers objected, to no avail.
There were fights and arrests. More emergency services arrived and the crowd evaporated.
According to the police, there are a total of 600 policemen at the demonstration.
The demonstration against state measures Corona wanted to move to the old cinema because the “World Health Summit” was scheduled there. Due to the increasing number of infections, it is now occurring online. All speeches and debates, including virologist Christian Drosten and Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU), would be conducted digitally, announced a spokeswoman for the summit.
