Conservative activists are taking legal action against the fact that voting options have been expanded due to the crown pandemic. In Harris County, authorities opened ten self-service centers where residents can cast their vote in their cars instead of going to the polling place. Former Harris County Republican Party leader Jared Woodfill and other conservatives sued, arguing that the Texas franchise does not specifically allow this form of voting. In addition, nine of the ten centers were established in democratic areas of the county.
Texas is the largest Republican state in the United States. According to polls, Trump’s challenger Joe Biden has a chance of winning there. Texas is also one of only five states that does not allow a full mail vote despite the pandemic. Instead, early voting has been extended by a week. More than 9.7 million voters have already used it, although the state typically has one of the lowest turnout rates in the country.
