METERHonorable aid organizations demonstrated with around 13,000 chairs in front of the Bundestag for the acceptance of more refugees in Germany. Under the slogan “Evacuate the field, the place is there!”, Representatives of Seebrücke, Sea-Watch, the group #LeaveNoOneBehind and Campact set up the chairs on the lawn in front of the Reichstag building as a protest facility on Monday. They demanded the federal Interior Minister, Horst Seehofer (CSU), not to impede the solidarity and willingness of federal states like Berlin and Thuringia.
Other federal states should also use their leeway and decide on state acceptance programs for refugees, the organizations said. In addition, a European maritime rescue program and the immediate evacuation of all refugee camps in Greece were called after a coronavirus infection was first detected in a resident at Camp Moria.
