Once again, the number of new corona infections has reached a new record, with more than 23,000 cases. CSU chief Söder asks for patience, while numerous constitutional complaints have been filed against the partial shutdown.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has again reported a spike in new corona infections. The health authorities notified 23,399 new cases in 24 hours. Yesterday, 21,506 new infections were reported and, for the first time, more than 20,000.

A record of new infections had already been reached in the previous three Saturdays: the value was 19,059 on October 31, 14,714 on October 24, and 7,830 cases on October 17.

No change in trend in sight yet

The number of recorded deaths related to the virus increased by 130 to a total of 11,226, according to the RKI. The number had already surpassed 100 in recent days. Even if the number of new infections stagnates in the near future, high values of deaths can still be expected, as they occur during the course of the disease, often weeks after infection. Therefore, the number of infections has a lagging effect on the number of deaths.

A clear trend reversal is not yet in sight. So far, a further increase in broadcasts has been observed in the population, according to RKI’s management report on Friday night. According to the RKI, it will take two to three weeks until the effect of the partial closure, which has been in effect since Monday, with the closure of several facilities in November, shows the number of infections by time from contagion to symptoms, test and registration .

Söder asks for patience

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder urges the population to be patient. “We need at least two weeks to evaluate the success of the measures,” said the CSU politician of the “Rheinische Post”. It would be wrong to stop therapy earlier. “Anyway, it is the softest blockade there is currently in Europe.” However, Söder was confident that the measures will curb the rapid increase in the number of corona infections: “The blocking light will work.”

Complaints against these measures are increasing. Once urgent applications have already been submitted to numerous higher administrative courts, the Federal Constitutional Court must also deal with partial closure. So far, there have been four constitutional complaints and two requests for precautionary measures in Karlsruhe.

According to the Funke media group, the highest German court on the Corona issue has so far counted 518 constitutional complaints, most of which, however, have not been carried out. So far, the court has handled 187 constitutional complaints and 53 isolated requests for an interim order.

Doctors want to house infected people in hotels

The Marburger Bund Doctors Union is now advocating that those who have tested positive for the coronavirus can also spend their quarantine in a hotel room. The offer must be voluntary and only applies to people who have no or only weak symptoms, said Marburger Bund President Susanne Johna. Such regulation could prevent family members from being infected and would also benefit hotels and pensions that barely have income during the crisis.

The state must bear the costs of accommodation. “The number of people who become infected with infected family members or roommates at home is increasing rapidly,” Johna said, explaining her suggestion. For many infected people, it is difficult to isolate themselves at home. “When four people live in 80 square meters, it is often almost impossible to really isolate oneself,” Johna emphasized. “Overcrowded living conditions endanger the success of the quarantine.”
